This is a hybrid course that includes both online and lab curriculum.  The 30 hours of online curriculum must be completed before starting hands-on training.  Attendance at one online orientation is recquired.*  The hands-on training will include utilizing the “Teach Pendent” to operate the FANUC robots.  The training is done in the new state of the art RAMTEC lab.  FANUC America Corporation provides industry-leading robotics, CNC systems, and factory automation. Students will have the opportunity to see the application of robotics and additive manufacturing.  This will provide an introduction into a career in the exciting field of Robotics and Advanced Manufacturing.  Students will learn FANUC and Yaskawa robots, write basic motion programs for each, understand and operate advanced manufacturing equipment. A pre-employment training program to prepare qualified job seekers for jobs in local warehouse and distribution centers. Students will earn a Manufacturing Skills Standards Certificate (MSSC) and Fork Lift certification enhancing their overall qualifications for existing jobs. Students will participate in employer presentations; application, resume' and interview preparation.  Week 1 takes place at the Montgomery County Job Center -- Job readiness and program orientation.  The remainder of the certificate training will be held at the MVCTC Hoke Road campus.

The class incudes online training and a variety of activities designed to prepare students for a manufacturing environment.  An introduction to robotics and advanced manufacturing will be included.   Students can obtain a variety of certifications, leading to a Production Certificate (CPT) through the Manufacturing Skill Standards Council (MSSC).   Safety Training and Leadership; Work Area Safety; Fire and Electrical Safety; Hazardous Material Safety; Tool and Machine Safety   Quality Practices and Measurement Multi-view Drawings; Basic and Precision Measurement Tools; Control Charts; Quality Systems   Manufacturing Processes and Production Mechanical Principles; Machine Tooling; Machine Troubleshooting; Production Planning; and Workflow Production Control   Maintenance Awareness Basic Electrical Circuits; Electrical Measurement; Pneumatic and Hydraulic Power Systems; Machine Control Concepts; Machine Automation   Each complete module takes approximately twenty-four to thirty hours.
